Like any business, there’s a lot that goes on behind-the-scenes, and Virtual Assistant Internship is no different. Our mission is to help as many women as possible create a virtual career they love with a sustainable income.
It’s crazy to see how far we’ve come in the last few years. We’ve been able to reach over 4,000 students in the 90 Day VA program from ALL OVER THE WORLD, and we’re still growing!
Many of you have already joined the work from home revolution, and it’s become so important to my team and me to find other ways to help you land the remote job of your dreams. This is why we’ve created several digital products to help get you started:
- Need help with your remote resume? We have our Remote Resume Blueprint.
- Trying to stand out from the crowd and land high-tier clients? Check out our Virtual Brand Studio.
- Looking for more clients to work with? We send out our Weekly Remote Job Pack every week.
- Need more FREE resources to help launch your online career? We have 15 experts that have come together in our Work From Anywhere Virtual Summit to tell you ALL about the amazing job opportunities available to you.
I’ve been working online for over 10 years now, and it has become my passion to help other women learn these in-demand skills and get their virtual career up and running FOR REAL.
Starting as a VA is only the beginning. The number of opportunities that are out there for you is unreal. So, I’m here to share with you the behind-the-scenes of VAI, including where our students come from, how we give back to the community, and how you can make your work from home dream a reality too!
Our Students Are From All Over the World
A common question I get a lot – “Is 90 Day VA for anyone?” The short answer is YES.
The course is meant to help everyone and anyone interested in jumpstarting their remote work lifestyle. No degree necessary. Everything you need to know about becoming a virtual assistant, you will learn in this course. And the best part? You can do it from ANYWHERE in the world.
From the US to Canada, to the UK and everywhere else in Europe, to Africa and Southeast Asia to Central and South America – our students are literally from all over.
We did a quick poll of our students in the course, and although the majority shows the U.S. and Canada, you can see that there are students in all parts of the world. Keep in mind – these are only some of our students.
But – if we want to get more specific, here’s where some of our students are based:
- Gillian from South Africa
- Zoe from Greece
- Ula from Poland, living in South Wales, UK
- Liz from Vancouver, Canada
- Ajita from the Caribbean, Sint Maarten
- Alena from Tynec nad Sazavou, Czech Republic, living in Barcelona, Spain
- Jessica in Ontario, Canada,
- Rachel in New Mexico, USA
- Jessica from New Hampshire, USA
- Stella from Greece
- Lena from Texas, living in Colorado, USA
- Berta from Madrid, living in Asturias, Spain
- Laura from South of England, UK
- Chelsea from Washington, USA but waiting to go home to Sri Lanka
- Laura from Liverpool in the UK
- Gaby from Mexico
- Vivian from San Diego, California, USA
- Sam from Nome, Alaska
- Maria from Finland, living in Tasmania, Australia
- Lotte from Finland, living in the Netherlands
- Elena from Russia
- Jessica from Guam, living in Spokane, Washington, USA
- Rosanna from Manila, Philippines living in Amsterdam
- Veerle from Belgium, but currently in sunny Malaysia!
And this is only a small handful.
But with this, another common question I get is – “English isn’t my first language. Can I still be a VA?”
Absolutely, you can!
In fact, I spoke with VAI’s very own Customer Support Champ, Christine, who shared her story all about how non-native English speakers can still work online as a VA. Christine is from Austria, and she drops some serious knowledge bombs on what it’s like to work online with English as her second language. And she’s only one person.
Many of my students take the course from other countries and have gone on to do some amazing things.
Students Are At All Different Levels in Their VA Career
Our students come from all areas of life when they join 90 Day VA, and it’s important to know that each person is at a different level of experience.
No admin experience? No problem.
You have always been a stay-at-home mom with no work experience on your resume. Totally fine!
You had no idea what a virtual assistant was before, and you’re just beginning your VA journey. Even better!
Whether you have just graduated high school and are looking for some work while you continue to university, you did corporate life and it’s time for a career change, or you flat out don’t have any experience at all – you can still succeed in this line of work.
You CANNOT compare your path to someone else’s.
90 Day VA is all about helping people build a life they are proud of. I say this with all the love in the world – your background or experience level DOES NOT MATTER.
We’ve had conversations with students who love to travel and are trying to find ways to continue the lifestyle without finding temporary work every time they change locations. We also have students who worked in the corporate world before deciding it wasn’t for them.
One of the main reasons I started this program was to help other military wives find their voice as businesswomen, pursue their passions, and continue to work from any location – no matter their background.
We also have homeschool moms jump on the online work train so that they can travel with their kids or spend more time with their families.
Many people with SO many backgrounds have found that this lifestyle works best for them and what they want to accomplish in life.
Your experience level is irrelevant. Degree or not, we have students completing this program who are paving their own path of what they define as success. Not what society tells you is “successful.”
We’ve asked our students to share their backgrounds with us before becoming a virtual assistant. Here’s a list to give you a better idea of how diverse our students are:
- Medical Secretary
- Hotel Receptionist
- Litigation/Real Estate Paralegal
- Office Manager
- Event Specialist
- Registered Practical Nurse
- Waitress
- Stay-at-Home Mom
- Administrative Assistant
- Freelance Journalist
- Banker
- Veterinary Technician
- Occupational Therapist
- Marketing Director
- Bartender
- Middle School Spanish Teacher
- Biochemistry
- Library Assistant
- Student
- Live Show Productions
- Guest Experience Manager at Disney
- Teacher
- Environmental Educator
- Academic and Career Counselor
- Pilates Instructor
- Insurance Data Analyst
- Hair Stylist
- Licensed Esthetician
Awesome, right?!
This should show you that you can TOTALLY make your work from home dream a reality as a virtual assistant no matter your background or experience. This is also why you should NOT compare yourself to other people on this journey.
Everyone has had different paths in life that have led them to where they are now. So, whether some people seem to be finding and landing jobs faster than others, continue to focus on you and your path only.
The opportunities meant for you are closer than you think. So, it’s time to stop telling yourself you won’t find a job as a VA, that your resume isn’t good enough, you’re clueless when it comes to social media, etc.
No more excuses. Got it?
Success looks different for everyone.
Whether you’re still looking for clients, booked out completely, not looking, or haven’t applied at all yet – your time will come. There’s no rush to outperform the next person because all that matters is where you are in your life.
Other Ways VAI Gives Back
In addition to the many women (and men!) that we’ve helped jumpstart their careers, it is extremely important to VAI to give back to the community. This is why we donate 1% of our business income to different organizations around the world.
Rural Reach
We are proud to sponsor 14 beautiful children living in rural South Africa via our CFO Morgan and her husband’s NGO Rural Reach.
Aside from the basic necessities, we ensure that these children get a food hamper every month, and their school fees are covered.
Our general donation also makes sure to employ a person in each town for each child.
If you’d like to know more about The Sponsor a Child project, you can find more information HERE.
Re:Coded
Most recently, we set up a monthly donation to a tech-driven, non-profit organization called Re:Coded.
Re:Coded offers training programs to young individuals in areas affected by war – Turkey, Iraq, and Yemen. Here, the students are given access to higher education where they can learn technical skills (e.g., coding) and general skills development.
Our donation helps fund the core expenses and helps them run their non-profit. To learn more about this organization, you can check it out HERE.
Feed Bali (Tresna Bali)
After living in Bali, the local people have a special place in my heart.
There are thousands of families short of food right now – which is why VAI donates to a program called Feed Bali by the Tresna Bali Cooking School.
We get to provide 6 families in-need with 2-weeks’ worth of food sourced 100% by local Balinese farmers with our donation.
Bali, Indonesia, relies heavily on tourism, and after the COVID pandemic, many families are still struggling. If you’d like to make a donation or learn more about the cause, click HERE.
VAI Scholarships
In light of COVID-19, VAI did a scholarship program for 5 members currently in the course. This allowed each student to extend their VAI Members Club Membership and continue to connect and build relationships within the community.
We also gave out 5 separate scholarships to those who have never enrolled in 90 Day VA.
My team and I advocate for your success in the online work world, so we want to provide equal opportunities for everyone.
We also understand that having a community of people going through or experiencing the same things you are is so powerful.
I want you to succeed and truly live the life that you want because it is possible! My team and I have worked to make your remote dream a reality by providing you the foundation you need to get the virtual ball rolling.
We all started from different backgrounds as well. And we continue to learn new things about ourselves along the way. You can find out more about the team here, how we each got started working online, and what our experiences working online have been like so far.
Our digital products and the 90 Day VA course are the stepping stones to help guide you towards your dream remote work life.
If you’re still unsure, check out my FREE masterclass to see if becoming a VA is something you’re interested in. The free course will help you decide whether this is something you want to pursue.
We believe in you! If you have any more questions or want to connect with other people in the same boat, you can also check our public Facebook Group.
