A little about me. I am 26 years old. I moved to Arkansas when I was 23 but was born in Wisconsin, then at 14, I moved to Alabama for a while. You could say I moved a lot. I have two wonderful children, a son, and daughter. If it wasn’t for them, only God knows where I would be today. I started college to become a surgical tech working at a hospital, but after trying really hard and going into the hospital every morning at 6am for clinical, I knew it just wasn’t for me anymore. So I was talking to my best friend Jessica. She and her husband own a landscaping business and wanted me to make a phone call to one of her customers to relay a message. Of course, she would have done it herself but this would be her third time talking with her, so I did it for her. Well that was when it hit me to start on my own virtual assistant journey. Why not turn things I love to do, into my job?
A light went off in my head and said, “wait, why couldn’t I help with other things like this with her business from home?” I started to do some research and found Esther’s program. I knew it was meant to be just by her first voice call and how she was more about the teaching rather than the money. This is what is going to provide for my children and myself. It was the perfect opportunity I had to not only work from home (because everyone knows I love my sweat pants and being at home) but to also help my best friend and other small business owners/entrepreneurs to be successful in their business so I can support my family.
The biggest thing I have learned so far was using social media for things I had no clue about, like using it as a marketing tool. I love being a VA because it gives me the freedom of working around my life and what’s going on in it. Since I still have family and friends in Alabama and I go down there as much as I can, this allows me to have that freedom to spend time with my family. I wouldn’t have to worry about asking permission from my boss, about trying to make so many plans in just a week (if you even get that in vacation time), and whether or not they are not paid vacation days you wouldn’t have to worry about making up for the lost money. Well with this, I am able to take my work with me and make money while I travel if I wanted to. I love to help others the best I can with anything. Women, you need to know that there is real work from home jobs out there that are not scams. Trust me. Every day I think I am being scammed because its sounds just too good to be true but in fact, being a VA is very legit!
