Why isn’t online work working for you?… You’ve tried everything. Selling wraps, selling candles, picking up side hustles, and selling on eBay.
It’s gotten so bad that your friends have stopped saying hi, and are now starting every conservation with “No, I don’t want to buy anything. How are you?”
Why can’t you make any sustainable money or a proper living off any of this? Especially when it seems like so many other people can?
You’re frustrated and exhausted, and you can’t figure out what you’re doing wrong. But you’re not ready to give this up yet.
You want to:
- make great money
- work online
That’s not too much to ask, is it?
No, it’s not.
You can do this.
Our founder, Esther Inman, started out as a military spouse looking for a career that could move as her life moved. Now she’s been working online for 7 years, and she’s helped hundreds of women work online in virtual careers.
I found her because of the Work from Home Job Pack she emails out every week. After a while, I started paying attention to what she was talking about too.
One of the things that really resonated with me was when she talked about seeing people trying to do so many different things, like selling wraps, and vitamins, and just trying to do 5 million things and how it’s too much.
If this sounds like you – if you’ve been bouncing between different things like side hustles and selling stuff – then it’s because you have big dreams but you don’t know how to make them come true. So you’re just trying everything.
This is a problem.
Because you’ll never reach your goals this way.
You need to know what to focus on to maximize your results. To do that, Esther suggests you choose virtual services.
She Gave 3 Reasons Why You Aren’t Working Online:
1: Working Online: Niching Is King (Or Queen)!
Right now, you’re probably posting to your Facebook personal profile and your Instagram about the 5 million things you’re doing.
- One day you’re talking about your wraps.
- The next day you’re talking about your side hustle.
- After that, you’re talking about the latest thing you’re selling on eBay.
It’s great that you’re excited about so many things, but it’s confusing people.
Remember when you were younger, and one day you’d crush on this person, and then a little while later you were crushing on someone else, and your friends were like, “wait – what happened to so-and-so”?
You’re doing the same thing now. Your friends aren’t sure who to recommend you to, and people that might want to work with you aren’t sure about you either.
What you want to do is figure out your niche – that one thing you want to be known for. It helps your friends say things like – “Oh, you need an awesome virtual assistant who can help you with your email marketing? I know just the person for that.”
And then they say your name.
Niching helps you get high-end clients, and it helps you get known.
Invest in the Long Game to Reach Your Online Potential.
You’re going to see things like “I made $100,000 in 3 months! Squee!” and think that person has a magic wand they can hit you with, so the same thing will happen to you.
They don’t, and it won’t.
A lot of people don’t talk about the years of failed businesses or failed blogs they’ve had. And they make a lot of this sound simple and easy.
The truth is that building an online business is a lot of hard work, and it’s a marathon. It takes years.
If you want to be making money NOW, then putting 100% of your energy into something that’s the long game means you won’t be making money for 2-3 years. And that’s okay.
But how do you balance that with making money now?
- If you want to make money now, then you need to spend 75% of your energy on the stuff that’s going to make you money now.
- Take the other 25% of your time and spend it on your long-term projects and your big dreams.
In other words, stop investing 100% of your time in things that are not making you 100% of your money and you will go so much farther.
2: Online Work Is All about the Focus.
Esther has this great analogy from a multi-bajillionaire:
“Imagine there are two woodcutters out in the forest. One’s chopping down three trees at once throughout the day. The other one is working on his one tree. He’s just focused on the one tree.“
Who’s going to get a tree down first?
You already know the answer – it’s going to be the one who’s focused on just the one tree.
So get your one thing done.
- Be the go-to virtual assistant for real estate agents.
- Or for business coaches.
- Or join a mastermind and be the go-to copywriter for everyone in that business club.
3: Work Online and Be a Virtual Assistant (Find Your Thing).
Esther says this is what she really values about being a virtual assistant.
Because instead of throwing 500 things at people – I sell wraps and I sell on eBay and I’ve got this side hustle too and and and…
You can tell them one simple thing – I’m a virtual assistant. As a virtual assistant, you can start as a generalist, learn what you like, and then you can dig in and be a rock star in that niche. I’m the go-to virtual assistant for real estate agents.
That’s why she talks so much about being a VA and why she really believes it’s the best place to start. If you’re not sure what a virtual assistant is, then take her free class.
Your 3 Reasons.
Now you know the 3 reasons why you should focus on your virtual services over anything else:
1. Because niching helps you become known for something
2. It helps you invest in the long game while making money now
3. And it lets you get your one thing done and go so much farther
This is the way to make your big dreams come true.
